We knew Stephen Curry’s shot ran in the family.

Father Dell Curry was a longtime NBA star. Brother Seth Curry is in the 3-point contest with Steph. But now, during All-Star Weekend in their hometown, mother Sonya Curry is showing why she shouldn’t be forgotten.

The Curry Family Foundation was hosting an event Friday at a Charlotte, NC-area gymnasium the family helped refurbish.

As part of the festivities, the family divided up into teams for a shooting contest – with each team needing to make a layup, a free throw, a 3-pointer and a half-court shot.

When it came time for the team featuring Dell and Sonya Curry, Steph’s mom put up an underhand shot from half-court and drained it.

After sinking the shot, Sonya raced around the court as fans in the crowded center went wild. She then did a celebration dance as her sons looked on in amazement and husband Dell applauded.

Stephen Curry was teamed up with wife, Ayesha Curry; Seth Curry was joined by fiancée, Callie Rivers, daughter of Clippers coach Doc Rivers; while Steph and Seth’s sister, Sydel Curry-Lee, was teamed with husband, Damion Lee, a reserve guard on the Warriors.

Seth Curry couldn’t hold back laughter knowing he just got beat by his mom, a former volleyball player.

The Portland guard said afterward, “That was a lucky shot, but she knocked it down on the big stage. That was good to see.”

He joked getting beat by his mom was better than losing to his brother.

He said, laughing, “Hey, anybody but Steph winning was good.”

As far as the big show Saturday featuring the two brothers, Seth Curry has a bold prediction for who is winning the 3-point contest.

“Me, me, I will,” he told the Associated Press.

Seth Curry will be competing in his first NBA 3-point contest against a solid field that includes older brother Steph Curry, who won the event in 2015 and is third all-time in NBA history with 2,365 3-pointers made.

Seth Curry said, “I want to win it for myself and my family,” adding it has been a goal of his to win the event since he watched dad Dell Curry compete in it at the 1992 All-Star Game.

Stephen Curry sees the outcome a little differently. When he was asked who’s going to win, he responded, “Oh, I am.”
